What Diabolical Chicken Stepped on Your Face and Stole Your Neck?!

There is confetti in my bra, white make-up in my hair, and a smile on my face. Spock, Severe, and I have just gotten home from a Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight showing. For the first time since I started going to shows, I full-on dressed up. Don't panic, you will get to see. Spock had never been to--or even seen--Rocky Horror, and my dad hadn't gone since before I was born. So, it was a lot of fun for all of us, what with the flying rolls of toilet paper, party hats, and squirt guns. We did the Time Warp as best we could, because, well, we were in a theater, and there isn't a whole lot of room to wave your arms about, or pelvic thrust, or anything, really. Faythe was there, and she and I heckled the entire time, trading loud, obnoxious comments back and forth. It was much different than Repo!, where everyone except for the four people that have been there before are afraid to say anything.

We Started this Op'ra Shit

Early this morning, Spock, myself, and two of our friends went to yet another Repo! shadowcast. This one was special, though. In addition to the standard shenanigans of a midnight show-- yelling, swearing, singing, jumping up and down waving glowsticks-- we were also treated to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. As you may know, the movie Repo Men came out yesterday; it's a movie so nauseating and unapologetic in its similarity to Repo! that RtGO fans chose to boycott it. The movie also caught the attention of Terrance Zdunich; he was really pissed. As faithful portrayers of Repo!, each shadowcasting troupe was sent a special DVD to show at the end of the movie. It was about seven minutes long, and showed the evolution of Repo, as well as cut scenes that were not available on the DVD. I felt special just for being there.
Despite mine and Spock's prediction that the footage would leak online, people seem to have heeded the DVD's menu and credits specifically asking not to distribute or duplicate its contents. I haven't found any of the footage yet. Could it be that some people still harbor common decency?

Graverobber Does Chicago

On Saturday night, my Repo! shadow-caster friends, Spock, and I piled into Twin's car to go to the Music Box in downtown Chicago. Why? To meet Terrance Zdunich, the creator of Repo!: The Genetic Opera. This is the equivalent of a Rocky Horror fan meeting Richard O'Brien. It was quite an experience. Being downtown Chicago on a Saturday night, there was virtually no parking. Luckily, we found a spot just in time to be five minutes too late to go to the pre-show meet-and-greet.
The show itself was fantastic. The shadow-casters, 90 Day Delinquents, did a great job of interacting with the audience, as well as staying true to the heart of the movie. I have to admit my group was a bit raucous, but some people were just too quiet! On an interesting side note, it's been pretty much decided that I'm a shadow-cast groupie, and possibly our group's, You Know You Want It acting troupe, number 1 fan. I'm quite proud of that; they're good people, for the most part, and I've been friends with may of them for a while. I was pleased to see that the majority of the audience managed to get off their ass during the Genetic Opera scene; sometimes people just don't bother to "get up, get up."
After the movie, we got in line, this time inside the theater, to meet Terrance Zdunich. It took about 45 minutes to get there, but it was so very worth the wait. He was so receptive, and very kind to all of us; he even wants to see one of our shadow-casts! Terrance also signed Faythe's Chuck Taylors; she has vowed to wear only that pair in future performances. I suppose it's not as interesting, but he signed my DVD copy of Repo as well. He knew how to spell my name without me telling him! That's very important to me.
But I'm still fuzzing it out so the general e-public can't read it.

Still, pretty darn cool. I'd go again if it didn't take so long.

Stupid TV! Be More Funny!

I've watched the Simpsons since I was born, or thereabout. And, since I was born in 1990, this means that I've been watching the show practically since the beginning. It phased in and out, but when I came back, the Simpsons were always right there on Fox 32 at 6:00pm on weekdays, and at 7:00pm on Sundays. It's no surprise, therefore, that tonight I watched the 20th anniversary special, as well as the 450th episode.
Without further ado, I present:
Twenty Fascinating Secondary Simpsons Characters
Brought to you by Wikisimpsons!

1. Comic Book Guy - "Worst. Episode. Ever."

2. Dewey Largo - Most likely not related to the Largo family from Repo!

3. Dr. Hibbert - "Did anyone else slip this woman fertility drugs?"

4. Duffman - "New feelings brewing in Duffman! What would Jesus do?"

5. Frank Grimes - "I don't need safety gloves, 'cause I'm Homer Simp--"

6. George H. W. Bush - "What are you laughing at, Clinton?!"

7. Groundskeeper Willie - "Och, back to the loch wi' you, Nessie."

8. The Leprechaun - "Now you know what you have to do. Burn the house down! Burn 'em all!"

9. Manjula Nahasapeemapetilon - Fried Green Tomatoes is her favorite book, movie, and food

10. Milhouse Van Houten- Milhouse is allergic to honey, wheat, dairy, non-dairy and even his own tears

11. Ned Flanders - "Hi-diddly-ho, neighborino"

12. Otto - Sometimes Otto will have acid trips while driving, or while out in public(his shoes spoke to him at Lollapalooza, stating they meant no harm and only wanted to listen to the music)

13. Poochie - Note: Poochie died on his way back to his home planet

14. Professor Frink - "GLAVIN!"

15. Rainier Wolfcastle - He is a veteran of many violent action movies, most notably "the McBain series which does not correspond to a 1991 action movie by the same name."

There Can Be Only One

For years, I've said that my favorite movie is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I've held to it, despite the fact that I watch it maybe twice a year. So, I propose that I have a new favorite movie, that I've watched at least ten times over the past year alone-- Highlander. I am a Highlander freak; just ask Spock. I will pester him constantly to come over and watch Highlander in my basement. And not on DVD, either. I have it on Laserdisc (LD). I'm also very big on obsolete technology. I have an LD player with about a dozen discs, most of them equally obscure. I own records, but no record player; this would make me sad if my friend Freak didn't have a record player to play them on. So, today, when I was in my basement, watching Highlander on LD, on our ancient projection TV, I thought about it, and decided that Highlander would have to be my favorite movie. I love watching Rocky Horror, and I adore The Nightmare Before Christmas, but they get old after a while. I like Repo!: The Genetic Opera, but I haven't seen it that much, and even that gets tiresome. But Highlander is wicked awesome, and it has Christopher Lambert, who also played Raiden in the original Mortal Kombat movie. You just can't go wrong there.
What do for a list, though...

At the Opera Tonight

Yesterday night, or rather, very early this morning, Spock and I, as well as another couple, went out to Crown Point, Indiana, to see a midnight shadow-cast of Repo! The Genetic Opera. It was a long night, and we got lost multiple times, but it was definitely worth it. My close friend, Faythe, played Graverobber, as well as some other bit parts, and her Twin, whom I dated at one point, had six different roles, none of which he had rehearsed for. He did spectacular, no lie. In fact, the entire show was amazing. The turn-out was disappointing, though. Only about twenty people came, and they really weren't too active. My friends and I sat in the second row, and we were as loud and raucous as a midnight show calls for. After the show, we hung out for a bit before getting back on the road, and getting lost even more. Hurray for being lost!

It looks so much cooler in person
