After month upon month of polling, I can finally declare a winner for the "Name My Weebeast" contest. Kirk D. with the entry 'Percival', won by a a landslide. I will be on later to post the badge he will receive, watermarked, of course, so no-one can steal it. Wouldn't want that, now would we?
Thank you to all who entered and voted in the contest; it's been an interesting experience. I think Percival's going to come to school with me today. *grin*

CONTEST; We have a tie... Vote in the final showdown!
In the event of a tie, the contest will be run until January 2nd, 2010, until 11:59 CST.Upon reflection, I decided that this is a stupid rule. Therefore, I am extending the contest until the end of January, in order to decide the name more fairly.
The "Name My WeeBeast Contest" finalists are:
~ Ogden - submitted by Amanda J.
~ Percival - submitted by Kirk D.
So, for this contest's rules:
(1).Anyone who reads this blog, or feeds of its posts, can vote on a finalist. This is a public contest.
(2). On January 31st, 2010, at 11:59 CST, the finalist with the most votes will be declared the winner.
(3). Once a winner has been declared, they will be presented, upon giving me their e-mail address, a badge for their website, to display their winning the contest. I ask for the winner's e-mail, rather than simply posting the badge, so that other people can't steal it from the site and alter it.
In the words of the immortal [literally] Highlander, "There can only be one."
Oh, and I thought it might be nice to find out the meanings of each of these names. I like that sort of thing.
Ogden
Meaning: From The Oak Valley
Origin: English
Percival
Meaning: Pierce Valley
Origin: French
Interesting how that works out; the meanings are so similar!

CONTEST: Last day to vote!
Okay, folks, this is it. The very last day to vote on your favorite name for my WeeBeast. I'm very disappointed in the turnout so far. There are only 11 votes! So, get to the blog and vote! There is a majority, but I think it's fair to remind everyone that they have one last shot at a change in the race. Even if Ogden is a sweet name. That is all.~Sushi

Raw and Wriggling... / CONTEST: Day Two
So, I seem to have to make the rules a bit clearer for this contest. My blog posts are also streaming into my Facebook notes, which is where I plan to receive the bulk of my replies. I had figured it was a given that each person would submit one entry. However, one of my smart-ass friend-of-a-friends thought he would be funny and submit thirty-odd different names. I'm considering disqualifying him altogether.
So, just to be clear...
(1). Each person who submits, herein known as a "contestant", will submit one, and only one, name.
(2).Anyone who reads this blog, or feeds of its posts, can submit a name. This is a public contest.
(3). Once ten names [yes, ten seems to be a good number], each from a different contestant, have been submitted, a poll with each of these names will be opened on the blog, and only the blog. I can't manage multiple polls; people will get upset.
(4). On December 31st, 2009, at 11:59 CST, the submission with the most votes will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the contest will be run until January 2nd, 2010, until 11:59 CST. [For those of you who don't know, CST is Central Standard Time, the time zone in which I live.]
So, now that this rules business is taken care of, I have a rather silly list, with a rather long title.
Seven Popular Movie Quotes Translated From English into Japanese, and then Back into English, with Humorous Results:
1. From Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Before: "I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries."

2. From The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Before: "Do you think I made a mistake splitting his brain between the two of them?"

After: "This has, the officer, the tire and officer suspensoid, obtained officer impact the officer motor, 440 cubic inch factories. Because, as for this which runs the gas periodically and sufficiently probably will be it is before the catalytic converter of the model. In case of some kind of, as for that whether new Bluesmobile not calling?"
4. From The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

CONTEST: Name My WeeBeast!
So, Spock and I went to an epic book sale a few days ago, and I came across this strange-looking, anthropomorphic stuffed animal called a WeeBeast. When we checked out, the lady who rang up my books gave the creature to me for free, because "no-one wanted it anyway." Sad, very sad. Every beast deserves a home. And every beast also deserves a name. With that in mind, I'm having a small contest. I would like my readership, small though you may be, to submit name ideas for the WeeBeast. I don't know what gender it's supposed to be, so get creative. After I get a substantial amount of names, five at the least, I will put up a poll on the blog, so that everyone can vote. On December 31st, whichever name has the most votes will win, and I'll make a spiffy button for the winner to put on their site. I loves me some Photoshop, as you may have guessed.
So, start submitting!
